ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
We are delighted to invite you to the Sagamore XXI conference, organized by the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) Commission on Quantum Crystallography (QCr), taking place in Nancy, France. The Sagamore conferences, which began in 1964, are a long-standing international forum dedicated to the study of charge, spin, and momentum densities—now broadly encompassed under the term Quantum Crystallography.
Originally focused on electron charge and spin densities through X-ray and neutron diffraction, the Sagamore series expanded to include momentum distributions via Compton scattering, thanks to pioneering work by researchers like Dick Weiss. Over the decades, these meetings have fostered interchange between theorists and experimentalists, reconciliation of methodologies, and the pursuit of deeper insights into the quantum nature of materials.
Today, the field continues to evolve rapidly, with advances in detector technology and wavefunction-based modeling unlocking unprecedented precision in data. The conference aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and broader applications, revealing new physical and chemical insights that can be harnessed by the scientific community.
